Apple has confirmed its next launch event will take place on September 7, where a number of products, including the iPhone 14 series, the Apple Watch 8, and new AirPods are set to be announced.
In addition to personal invites sent out to the media and analysts, Apple’s SVP of marketing Greg Joswiak tweeted a public invite for the event, which will begin at 10 a.m. PT, and is sure to be live-streamed for those who can’t make it in person.
The short clip creates an Apple logo out of stars in space, with the tagline “Far out” on the tweet. This has led many to believe Apple is hinting at potential product features, such as an astrophotography mode or satellite connectivity for the iPhone 14. Prior fall launch invites and taglines have served as easter eggs for what was ultimately announced, such as the backdrop for the 2021 California Streaming event, hinting at the portrait mode for videos feature that was announced on the iPhone 13, PhoneArena noted.
The iPhone 14 series is rumored to include a standard 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, in addition to another 6.1-inch model called the iPhone 14 Pro and another 6.7-inch model called the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The smartphones will also feature the recently rolled out iOS 16 software. However, many of the upgrades are set to go to the Pro models, including design tweaks such as getting rid of the top-notch. Instead, the iPhone 14 Pro models might have a hole-punch design to house their selfie cameras and a separate pill-shaped cutout for Face ID. The Pro models will also likely feature a 48-megapixel rear camera with 8K video and an upgraded A16 processor.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are rumored to retain the top-notch design, they might feature 12-megapixel rear cameras and A15 chips. The entire series is slated to feature 6GB of RAM.
Rumors for the Apple Watch 8 suggest it will come in 41mm and 45mm size options, running an S8 processor and featuring a body temperature sensor. The brand could also announce an Apple Watch Pro mode in a 47mm size option in a rugged titanium casing.
Finally, there might be a new AirPods Pro with a redesigned charging case that includes, a hearing aid function, and a Find My network feature that works with a microphone inside the case to help find lost headsets. There might also be an AirPods Max update with new color options.
