Google has confirmed its launch event for the Pixel 7 series will take place on October 6 at 10 a.m. ET, in Brooklyn, NY, where the brand will showcase more details on two new smartphones for its 2022 high-end line.
Sending out event promotions to its various social media channels, Google also included shots for the Pixel Watch, which would be the first smartwatch under the Pixel brand. Having shared preliminary details about the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and the Pixel Watch in May during Google I/O, the brand promised it would have more to say about all three products in the fall.
The Verge noted that even with live leaks, there hasn’t been much detail about the Pixel 7 models outside of what Google shared about the devices at its I/o keynote. However, a Pixel Watch was discovered in the wild, which allowed fans and enthusiasts to get a look at the size for the device in comparison to other wearables.
Along with confirming its launch event, Google has also confirmed on its product page that the Pixel 7 series will run its second-generation “Tensor G2” chip, detailing that the processor will “bring even more helpful, personalized features to photos, videos, security, and speech recognition.”
The chip has been referred to as “GS201,” internally and is expected to have a similar trajectory as the original Tensor chip. Customers will likely later see the Tensor G2 in future devices, such as the Pixel 7a, or the rumored Pixel foldable according to 9to5 Google.
It is also known that the Pixel 7 series will run Android 13 out of the box. While Google’s latest operating system is now currently rolling out to devices currently on the market, the Pixel 7 will be the first to run the software natively.
