The original OnePlus 12R has been available to market since early February but now the Chinese brand is introducing a unique collectible smartphone model for the fans of the popular video game, Genshin Impact.
The OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition was unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, in Barcelona, Spain on Wednesday with a design inspired by one of the game’s highlight characters, Keqing.
In a collaboration with the game developer, HoYoverse, OnePlus outfitted this special edition OnePlus 12R with a custom Electro Violet design on the rear panel matching Keqing’s hair and uniform. The back panel has a matte glass finish, with a silvery white feather pattern and the character name, “KEQING” embossed in the lower portion of the smartphone’s rear body. OnePlus uses a technology called electro-etching to engrave the device, which allows the wording to reflect onto nearby surfaces when light is reflected onto the handset. Additionally, the device includes a customized OS coupled with enhanced mobile experiences that match the game and a collectible Genshin Impact gift box filled with Keqing-themed accessories and swag.
OnePlus President and COO Kinder Liu said in a statement that the brand’s collaboration with HoYoverse is intended to widen the Genshin Impact gaming universe for fans while maintaining the graphics and performance of the device.
Some of the game-inspired experiences included in the OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition are the customization of OxygenOS 14 to match the world of Teyvat, where Genshin Impact is set. The system has custom app icons, an Electro Element charging animation, an exclusive Always-On Display, and personalized power-on and fingerprint unlock animations. The device also opens to Keqing visuals and live wallpaper, designed especially for this OnePlus 12R model. Coupled with the handset is a gift box, which includes many Genshin Impact branded accessories and collectible goodies for fans to enjoy, including a power adapter, charging cable, SIM ejector, phone case, phone stand, Chibi stickers, a commemorative poster, metal badges, a character badge, an acrylic stand ornament, a letter to the traveler.
The OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition model itself has been outfitted with the specs to support high-intensity gaming. The smartphone features a 6.78-inch 1.5K ProXDR display, which supports 4,500 nits maximum brightness, 2,160Hz PWM maximum dimming, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and the TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care certification. It also uses Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 as its protective covering.
Hardware includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chip, 16GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a 5,500mAh battery with 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, which supports a 1 to 100% charge time in 31 minutes. Additional internal specs include HyperBoost, which minimizes loading time withing a game to as low as five seconds, and HyperTouch, which increases the touch response rate to 1,000Hz, the RAM-Vita technology which frees up memory in the device by shutting down background operations, the CPU-Vita technology that allows this OnePlus 10R model to run average frame rates of 59.5fps, the Cryo-velocity VC (Vapor Chamber) cooling system that maintains the heat distribution of the handset while sustaining optimal performance on high operational tasks, such as gaming, and the 360° omnidirectional antenna design and dual-band Wi-Fi 7 networks that increases the overall wireless performance of the device.
The triple rear lens setup on the OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition includes a 50-megapixel main lens with a Sony IMX890 sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The front facing camera is a 16-megapixel lens.
Other notable features on this OnePlus 12R model are its dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support and its proprietary Battery Health Engine, which helps the device maintain 80% capacity after 1,600 charges or approximately four years of use. The USB-C cable that accompanies the smartphone features a 90° right-angle connector design, to maintain its strength, and also includes a violet LED indicator light.
The OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact Edition has been available for preorder since February 28 at OnePlus.com and will go on sale March 21 at 9 a.m. in the U.S. and Canada.
It is priced at $649 ($869 CAD). OnePlus is offering a trade-in take taking a $100 ($150 CAD) the price of the smartphone when tranding in a different smartphone of any model or condition.
The standard OnePlus 12R is also currently available for $399 with the same trade-in deal.
