The elusive Galaxy S25 Edge may be closer to an official launch date. After Samsung teased the upcoming device at its Galaxy Unpacked launch event in late January, the rumor mill opened with prospective details about the smartphone, including information about when it could become available. Now, a report has surfaced suggesting the device could be announced in less than two months.
The Korean publication Sedaily has detailed that the Galaxy S25 Edge could be announced on April 16 and the device could go on sale sometime in May.
Since being teased in January, information surrounding the Galaxy S25 Edge indicates it may be a premium build smartphone with an ultra-thin form factor. It could potentially compete with the rumored Apple iPhone 17 Air. The report indicates that the device may have a thickness of 6.4mm.
This is far different from the original design that was associated with Samsung’s “Edge” branding a decade ago, which denoted its legacy singular or dual-edge curved screen form factor. However, other Easter eggs Samsung may have dropped in its Unpacked event hints that the brand may be shifting away from its old direction. According to the publication, a Samsung executive indicated that the “Edge” in Galaxy S25 Edge will serve a new purpose, meaning “new and innovative technologies.” Moreover, a recent hands-on leak revealed that the Galaxy S25 Edge is likely a flat-panel slate smartphone.
Early rumors have also indicated that the device may run a reconfigured version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, intended for foldables and “slim” design slate smartphones.
The source stated that Samsung will release the Galaxy S25 Edge in limited quantities, with a plan of producing 40,000 units to start, approximately 0.1% of the brand’s monthly smartphone output.
Android Headlines noted Samsung could ramp up production of new models based on consumer interest. The device will be available in light blue, black, and silver color options. The Galaxy S25 Edge could be priced more than the standard Galaxy S25 but less than the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Other prospective specs for the smartphone include 12GB of RAM, 128/256GB storage options, and a 4,000mAh battery, as well as a dual camera with a 200-megapixel main lens and a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens.
