Details about the Samsung Galaxy S20 series are now tumbling out of the rumor mill after a major detail leak a few days prior. Recent reports have now revealed there will be at least five models of the Galaxy S20, including three 5G models, two Plus models, and one Ultra model.
Further leaks have revealed size differences between the Galaxy S20 models, courtesy of Max Weinbach of XDA developers. The informant shared 3D printed dummy models of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra, comparing them to the size and design of their Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 counterparts.
Prior reports have noted the standard Galaxy S20 is expected to have a display between 6.2-inches and 6.3-inches, while the Galaxy S20 Plus may have a 6.7-inch display, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra a 6.9-inch display. The Galaxy S20 Plus mockup is just slightly taller than the Galaxy S10+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra taller than the Galaxy Note 10+. The Galaxy S20 is expected to be similar in size to the Galaxy S10.
These dummies use schematics from CAD renders that case makers get to develop their own products before a device release, so a lot of them tend to be fairly accurate. The comparison leak gives a detailed look at the camera setups of the Galaxy S20 models in particular.
Samsung Galaxy S20 main cameras
Meanwhile, Leakster, Ice Universe has shared specifics on the camera features on the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra. It appears that it is the Galaxy S20 Ultra that will feature the illusive 108-megapixel main camera sensor that was first introduced on the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 in November 2019. Samsung has tweaked the sensor to its own customization as the model numbers are slightly different, S5KHM1 for the upcoming smartphone, compared to the S5KHMX on Xiaomi’s device. The other lenses on the Galaxy S20 Ultra include a 44-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 48-megapixel telephoto lens, and a time-of-flight (ToF) depth sensor.
The Galaxy S20 Plus is set to feature a 12-megapixel main lens, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 64-megapixel zoom lens, and a ToF, while the standard Galaxy S20 is set to feature just a 12-megapixel main lens, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 64-megapixel zoom lens.
Samsung Galaxy S20 front cameras and features
All three models will feature the same 10-megapixel front-facing camera, which has been previously used on the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy Note 10. Prior rumors suggest the devices will be able to shoot video in 8K 30 fps, making the Galaxy S20 series the first smartphones with such a capacity. Some camera modes expected include the Zoom-In Mic feature from the Galaxy Note 10, a Pro Video mode, and a feature called Single Take Photo, which will allow users to move their phone around to trigger image and video capture.
However, none of the Galaxy S20 devices are expected to feature 10X optical zoom, which is slated for some rival devices, such as the Huawei P40 Pro. Samsung has only discussed its plans for 5x periscope zoom so far. Reports have long indicated that Samsung is using the codename Hubble for one of the Galaxy S20 models, likely the Ultra, in reference to this feature, which is expected to rival the Astrophotography mode on the Google Pixel 4.
Samsung Galaxy S20 hardware
Several hardware details have also surfaced for the Galaxy S20 series, suggesting all models will feature at least 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM for base models. Backing up the claim are recent Geekbench benchmarks, which list the Galaxy S20 5G as having 12GB of RAM coupled with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip and Android 10. The standard Galaxy S20 has similarly benchmarked with matching specs, and 151.7 x 69.1 x 9.1 mm dimensions.
Many have noted that the devices could potentially feature only one RAM capacity, considering that is already a rather hefty memory load. There have been prior murmurs that the Galaxy S20 Ultra, in particular, could feature 16GB of RAM, in addition to a 5,000mAh battery, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB internal storage options, a microSD card slot, and eSIM support.

Other news suggests the Galaxy S20 devices may feature 120Hz display panels; however, said panel is not expected to work at the screen’s maximum resolution. The Galaxy S20 displays are set to be WQHD+ resolution but the 120Hz refresh rate is will likely coincide with its Full HD+ resolution. Many manufacturers give users the option to set their displays to different resolutions for purposes such as conserving battery life. Additionally, manufacturers often set lower resolutions as the default, to let more advanced users change to a higher capacity at their discretion.
This is something we may see on the Galaxy S20 devices. Samsung may currently opt to set the 120Hz refresh rate to the Full HD+ resolution because most users won’t think to change to the higher resolution setting. This also could give Samsung a chance to incrementally upgrade the 120Hz display to the WQHD+ resolution in future devices.

Finally, Galaxy S20 wallpapers are now available, courtesy of XDA developers. The wallpapers are 3200×3200 pixels and also include some videos, which mimic lock screen animation.
wallpaper availability is also a good indication that Samsung’s devices are near release. The manufacturer has confirmed that it will announce its latest devices on February 11, in San Fransisco. Of course, even with all of the information that has been made available, no detail about the Galaxy S20 series has been confirmed.
