OnePlus is kicking up its marketing of the new OnePlus Nord smartphone with a social media spot that may reveal details about the device.
Clips from the ad show OnePlus Nord with a flat display, a slim and tall aspect ratio, and a long-form camera module on its left side. Many details, which have already come up in rumors. Several leaksters have also shared this image from the OnePlus Nord landing page on the Amazon India store, showing the device in motion.
Many are currently discussing why the OnePlus Nord is not set to launch in the U.S. OnePlus CEO, Carl Pei, recently told Android Authority that the brand is focusing the product on markets where it has the best chance of selling well. While OnePlus gained popularity in the U.S. due to its cheaper price paired with premium specs, the OnePlus Nord is set to be solid-mid-ranger with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G chip already confirmed. Primary markets for the device will include India and Europe.
While the inaugural OnePlus Nord model may not sell in the U.S. the brand is looking to organize a beta program to see how Western users take to the model. This could dictate future availability if the series continues, as analysts note consumers are warming up to devices in the $300 to $500 range as the current COVID-19 pandemic has caused many to reconsider their spending budgets for products, such as smartphones.
Meanwhile, several leaks have given glimpses of how the smartphone looks, showing how OnePlus has updated the design language on its upcoming sub-$500 5G device.
Other leaks claim to show an up-close, real-life shot f the device, in addition to a poster detailing that the OnePlus Nord will release in a flash sale on July 25 after being announced July 10.
