“New OnePlus TV models tackle budget and premium mid-range”

OnePlus has announced two new television sets, continuing the tech foray it began in September 2019. The OnePlus TV Y series stands as the brand’s affordable smart TV option, while the OnePlus TV U series will be its premium mid-range option. With three models across the two new lines, these sets will cater to the Indian market, with availability starting July 5.

OnePlus TV Y series

The OnePlus TV Y comes in a 43-inch Full HD model and a 32-inch HD-ready model with at 1366×768 resolution. Many have noted that the HD resolution is quite dated, however, this is likely one of the aspects that makes this device cost-effective. It will sell for Rs. 12,999 (approx. $174 USD), while the 43-inch model will sell for Rs. 22,999 ($307 USD).

Hardware for the TVs includes 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Both models support Gamma Engine optimization for color optimization and face recognition, as well as two 10W speakers with Dolby Audio.

OnePlus is showcasing several software updates with Oxygen Play and Oxygen Connect for a more seamless experience across Android and iOS platforms. Oxygen Play works well with services including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, enabling features such as reminders and saving content for later. Oxygen Connect allows users to set their Android or iOS smartphone up like a remote control. The feature supports up to five devices with a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection.

OnePlus TV U1

The OnePlus TV U1 is the highest-end model in this series, with a 55-inch 4K display, supporting Dolby Vision as well as Dolby Atmos. Its design includes a metal chassis and aluminum alloy frame, as well as a carbon fiber covered block, which houses its motherboard, speakers, ports. Hardware for the OnePlus TV U1 includes a MediaTek MT5887 chip, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage.

OnePlus has announced several new smart TVs for the Indian market.

OnePlus also included a dedicated Gamma Engine for color optimization and face recognition. With an added motion estimation, motion compensation (MEMC) chip, the TV supports faster frame rates and many image quality enhancements such as motion blur reduction, noise reduction, super-resolution, and dynamic contrast.

The TV also features four speakers with 30W output. It runs Android TV 9 for software with an Oxygen Play overlay, with highlight features, including Google Assistant, Data Saver Plus, and Kids Mode.

The OnePlus TV U1 will sell for Rs. 49,999 ($668 USD), with a smart remote, which supports dedicated Netflix and Prime Video buttons.
