The rumored Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 may not include a slot for an S-Pen, though the next generation foldable is expected to feature stylus support, according to a report by NaverNews.
Samsung has seemingly opted for this design to save room internally and to do a better job dust-proofing and waterproofing the device. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to come with an official IP rating.
The foldable may be similar to the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which has S-Pen support, but does not include an internal S-Pen slot like the original Galaxy Note series devices. The Galaxy S21 Ultra does have a sold separately case accessory with a slot to house a stylus.
The report also notes that Samsung could also pair the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with the S-Pen Pro that it unveiled in January. The power user stylus includes features, such as wireless connectivity and Bluetooth Low Energy.
Some rumored features for the Galaxy S Fold 3 include a 4,380mAh battery and a under panel camera.
While there has long been word of a July launch for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung’s recent announcement of a Galaxy Unpacked event for April 28 has many wondering if the foldable will be unveiled early. Samsung has teased that it will unveil ‘the most powerful’ Galaxy device.
Perhaps an April unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 before a July market launch? Only time will tell.
We did see the South Korean smartphone manufacturer move its Galaxy S21 launch window from late February to mid-January due to the unforeseen circumstances of the last year.
