Many features are being connected to the rumored Samsung Galaxy 22 series, which could be truly coveted flagship devices if the rumors are to be believed.
From the design to the camera setup to the battery features, there are several details about the devices that suggest Samsung is adding several beefy specs to the device series. Here’s a rundown of the latest Galaxy S22 rumors.
Industry insiders are expecting Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus models to feature a flat display and back panel, officially shifting the brand away from its curved display design language that has defined the Galaxy lines for years. Twitter leakster, @UniverseIce, who shared the details, noted that the Galaxy S22 devices might resemble the iPhone 13 in terms of design, with one major difference being Samsung will keep its Infinity-O display design, instead of having a notch to house the front camera.
This could potentially mean that the curved display could become a premium feature that is reserved specifically for the Galaxy S22 Ultra and subsequently future Ultra tier models developed by Samsung. The brand has discussed in the past how much effort goes into creating the curve for its displays. With Samsung now trying to double down on foldables, it might not want to put as much effort into curved displays. The feature was once hoped to be functional but has ultimately turned out to be a design highlight.
Power-wise, rumors are now leaning toward a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, also sourced from Ice Universe. If accurate, the device would be able to go from zero to 70 percent charge in 35 minutes. The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus models are expected to have the same 25W fast charging seen on the current Galaxy S21 series.
Samsung is also expected to make updates to the telephoto lenses on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, using a Sony-made 10-megapixel sensor instead of an in-house 12-megapixel sensor as was previously rumored. Once again, Ice Universe claims Samsung will use a 1/3.52-inch Sony sensor with 1.12μm-sized pixels for two telephoto cameras. One camera will have a 3X zoom f/2.4 aperture and a 36-degree field of view (fov) and another will have a 10X zoom f/4.9 and a 11 degree fov. Both cameras are expected to have dual-pixel PDAF and OIS.
The telephoto lenses on the Galaxy S22 are expected to be paired with a 108-megapixel primary lens with a 1/1.33-inch sensor, 0.8μm-sized pixels, an f/1.8 aperture, and an 85-degree fov, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens with a 1/2.55-inch 12-megapixel sensor with 1.4μm-sized pixels and an f/2.2 aperture for a quad-lens setup.
