The Pixel 4 seems to have made a live appearance, showing off its camera module and a boxy frame. The leak is courtesy of Mishaal Rahman of XDADevelopers, who shared the images Tuesday in an attempt to confirm their legitimacy.
The device in the images does look eerily similar to the renders that Google shared in June after Pricebaba and OnLeaks shared renders based on Pixel 4 schematics they obtained. Google’s clear images confirmed a dual-lens set up for the device’s camera. Additionally, the smartphone may feature a third “spectral” sensor that may help with light movement when capturing unusual subjects.
Since then, rumors have suggested that the Pixel 4 may feature a 12-megapixel standard lens and a 16-megapixel telephone lens in its camera setup.
The image of the device’s front side may also reveal sensors for Google’s Project Soli radar chip, which could bring gestures controls to the Pixel 4. However, details about the Pixel 4’s front camera remain minimal.
In addition to the camera features, the leak reveals a fairly simple design with a glossy black color for the handset. Google is known for keeping its Pixel color options simple but a potential glass black for the Pixel 4 could be the company’s effort to keep up with high-end trends.
This leak is quite timely, considering the recent news surrounding Google’s rebranding of the Android operating system. The Pixel 4 is sure to be among the first smartphone to run the newly dubbed Android 10 when it releases, likely on September 3.
For other specs, the Pixel 4 may have a 6.25-inch diagonal display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chip, 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage, USB-C no 3.5mm audio jack.
The Pixel 4 may be announced in early October, keeping in step with Google’s usual unveiling time frame.
