The OnePlus 6T may be inching even further into U.S. carrier compatibility. The device may be compatible with Verizon, in addition to GSM networks, upon its November 6 market release, according to a recent report by PCMag.
The OnePlus 6T may include Band 13 LTE, which would potentially allow it to run on Verizon’s network; however, there is no guarantee that Verizon will certify the device for service.
Verizon won’t be selling the OnePlus 6T, but with Band 13 LTE and certification from Verizon, consumers would be able to purchase an unlocked model and have their Verizon SIM card work. This would be a welcome addition for many OnePlus enthusiasts who use Verizon as their carrier. They would be able to BYOD the OnePlus 6T at a much cheaper price than purchasing a Verizon branded smartphone. The OnePlus 6T will sell starting at about $550, while the average competitor is approaching or exceeding $1000 in starting price.
OnePlus has already shaken up the industry by announcing that it has plans to sell the OnePlus 6T through T-Mobile as well as in unlocked versions (which would also work on T-Mobile). As OnePlus’ first carrier deal in the U.S., the move is impressive at a time when fellow Chinese manufacturers, such as Huawei and ZTE haven’t been able to get the flagship carrier collaborations they’ve long been working to establish.
The OnePlus 6T will be announced on October 29 in New York City. OnePlus has confirmed a date change for its launch event. Originally scheduled for October 30, the manufacturer has bumped the event up by one day due to Apple announcing a launch event for the same date.
