“Acer ConceptD 7 notebook runs NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 GPU for professional artistic computing”

Acer announced its ConceptD 7 notebook during Computex 2019 on Monday, showcasing one of the first computers to feature the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 GPU. Acer hopes to appeal to users such as graphic designers, filmmakers, engineers, architects, and developers, that require a high-quality display and high-performance in their laptops.

The ConceptD 7 touts a thin-and-light design and the Windows 10 operating system, targeted toward high-end, power users. The notebook is 17.9 mm thick and weighs 2.1 kg while featuring a 15.6-inch UHD (3840 x 2160) 4K IPS display.

Powering the whole system is the 9th-generation Intel Core i7 processor and 16GB GDDR6 memory that allows for twice the memory bandwidth in comparison to prior high-end computers from the brand. Acer notes 3D rendering, simulation, and VR among some of the ideal use-cases for the ConceptD 7.

The notebook also features Thunderbolt 3 and MiniDP ports and can support up to four 5K displays or two 8K displays, in addition to the Killer DoubleShot Pro networking chip to ensure solid Wi-Fi connections.

Overall, ConceptD is a new line of high-end desktops, notebooks, and displays that Acer plans to bring to the professional and high-end artistic computing space, many of which will run NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 and GeForce RTX GPUs.

NVIDIA also showcased its new GPUs at Computex 2019. In addition to Acer, the chipmaker is working with Dell, HP, Lenovo, Razer, MSI to supply components for upcoming products.

While Acer did not share availability for the ConceptD 7 notebook, NVIDIA detailed that laptops featuring its Quadro RTX GPUs will begin hitting the market in June, starting at about $1600.
