The latest Raspberry Pi 4 mini-desktop is now available with major upgrades while keeping the same price as its prior model. Customers can purchase the single-board computer starting at $35, from various resellers including CanaKit, Chicago Electronic Distributors, PiShop, and Newark in the U.S.
Raspberry Pi has been popular for providing the latest computing components without all the design bells and whistles of other computers. Many agree the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is a significant upgrade from the previous Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. Among its highlight features include its quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A72 processor clocking in a 1.5GHz, its VideoCore VI graphics card with OpenGL ES 3.x support, and its 4Kp60 HEVC for video playback.
The Raspberry Pi 4 has also seen a RAM upgrade to LPDDR4. Offering 1GB for its base model, users can customize to 2GB for $45 or to 4GB for $55.
The Raspberry Pi 4 includes a number of connectivity options, including gigabit ethernet, dual-band 802.11ac wireless networking, Bluetooth 5.0, two USB 3.0 ports in addition to two USB 2.0 ports, and dual monitor support up to 4K resolution. The set up also maintains its 3.5mm audio jack.
While the Raspberry Pi 4 is compatible with all prior Raspberry Pi accessories, the new model has its own companion products, including a case, a power supply, micro HDMI Cables, and the Raspberry Pi Beginner’s Guide, updated for the new model. Customers can purchase the entire Raspberry Pi 4 Desktop Kit for $120.
