The Samsung Galaxy Fold appears to be one step closer to its market launch with pre-registration for the device now available in China. There is now a page live on Samsung’s official Chinese website that allows prospective customers to sign up for a chance to be one of the first to preorder or purchase the foldable smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold ordeal has been a long one with the device’s launch having been delayed by nearly six months due to issues with its flexible display. Samsung shared a press release one month ago indicating its plans to relaunch the Galaxy Fold in September. While the manufacturer has not confirmed an exact release date for the device, this new move could be a positive indication that the Galaxy Fold is finally ready for customers.
Samsung has been extremely ginger about dealing with the optics of the Galaxy Fold. This has likely been to the manufacturer’s benefit, but some pundits still feel that a lot of the excitement surrounding the foldable’s launch has dissipated between the long wait and the lack of details.
Still, it will likely be interesting to see how Samsung proceeds. So far it appears that no other market has received any pre-registration details for the Galaxy Fold. There are murmurs that the device could be showcased at the upcoming IFA conference in Berlin and may possibly be out on the show floor for attendees to handle. Samsung did display the Galaxy Fold at Mobile World Congress in February but the device was behind a glass casing for visual presentation. This was before devices malfunctioned in the hands of product reviewers.
