“Samsung Galaxy Fold U.S. launch confirmed with AT&T and Best Buy availability”

Samsung has finally confirmed that the Galaxy Fold smartphone will go on sale September 27 in the U.S. It’s release will conclude a nearly five-month ordeal that had the mobile industry wondering whether foldable smartphones would ever be viable for the market.

However, after an extensive redesign and a considerable amount of humble marketing, the Galaxy Fold is ready for its U.S. launch. The device became available first in South Korea, and the in France, Germany, Singapore, and the U.K. earlier this month.

Samsung released a video focusing on how users should care for the Galaxy Fold ahead of the U.S. launch. Some instructions include not pressing too hard on the Galaxy Fold screen, and just tapping lightly to use the handset. Users should not have water or dust around the Galaxy Fold as the foldable does not have any resistance rating. Additionally, users should keep objects affected by magnets away from the Galaxy Fold, such as credit cards, keys, and coins.

The Galaxy Fold has also gotten a little teardown treatment with Zack of JerryRigEverything testing the device’s durability. While the Galaxy Fold proved vulnerable to scratching and sand, the handsets hinge held up after attempts to bend the device in its opposite direction.

Showing the Galaxy Fold has some semblance of sturdiness, Samsung may be on its way to making its foldables structurally sound if it can resolve the glaring issues. Scratching with a box cutter did ultimately kill a full stripe of pixels, but the new Galaxy Fold handset didn’t have a complete display failure like the original model.

Galaxy Fold U.S. release date details

The Galaxy Fold will be available at select AT&T as well as at Best Buy and Samsung Experience locations. Consumers will be able to get either AT&T carrier models of unlocked models of the device. In its reinforcement of the Galaxy Fold, Samsung has not changed anything major about the Galaxy Fold design-wise. It features a 4.6-inch HD+ display cover display in its closed state and a 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex Display when it is open flat. Samsung has detailed that the device has been software optimized by Google to ensure that it can smoothly run three apps simultaneously on the main display.

However, the foldable smartphone will be available in Cosmos Black and Space Silver color options, when the original models had fun Martian Green and Astro Blue color options.

Among the gifts and perks coming with the Galaxy Fold are Samsung’s Premier Service, which will include access to a Fold Concierge to help users set up their new Galaxy Fold handsets and to assist with any questions or troubleshooting that may arise. Customers can contact Fold Concierge in person, via a dedicated toll-free number, or through video chat on the Samsung Members app.

Customers will also get a pair of Samsung’s Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds and an aramid fiber protective case for the Galaxy Fold. The foldable’s price remains at $1,980.
