The OnePlus 7T is not yet on the market, but there are already hints of what the Chinese manufacturer may have in store of its next flagship, the OnePlus 8.
Leaked renders have surfaced, in a collaboration between CashKaro and OnLeaks showing that the device may feature a curved edge display with a hole punch to house its front-facing camera. This is a new design for this particular model, but it could be an indication of how OnePlus plans to incrementally update its smartphones.
So far, we have seen the OnePlus 7 Pro sport the curved edge display as a premium feature. However, instead of a front-facing camera, the device introduced a pop-up selfie camera, which allowed the handset to have a seamless edge-to-edge display with no hole punch or notch obstructions.
The OnePlus 8 could be similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of its curved edge display and its vertically arranged triple rear camera, but its hole punch front-facing camera could be an indication of a higher-end variant. Perhaps there could also be a OnePlus 8 Pro with an edge-to-edge display and a pop-up selfie camera, but the current leaks have not revealed as much.
The introduction of the OnePlus 7 Pro has left the public anxious to see whether the manufacturer will expand this new tier, and in turn its price. The OnePlus 7T was announced on September 26 in India with a flat display, a teardrop notch, and a budget-friendly price tag. However, OnePlus set to host another launch in London on October 10, where the brand is expected to unveil the OnePlus 7T Pro.
Old leaks have also hinted that the OnePlus 7T Pro model could have the aforementioned display and camera upgrades to differentiate the model as a true flagship product. If and when the OnePlus 7T Pro is confirmed may give further hints on what is in store for the OnePlus 8; however, there aren’t many other details about the rumored smartphone.
CashKaro shared that the handset may feature a 6.5-inch display, 160.2 x 72.9 x 8.1mm dimensions, and could introduce wireless charging. With the potential launch for the OnePlus 8 over six months away, most details about the device should be taken with a grain of salt.
