“Oppo Reno Ace touts impressive charging prowess for a sub-$500 device”

The Oppo Reno Ace is gearing up to be a budget option for the Chinese market that is sporting some fairly impressive specs, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+, 8GB and 12GB RAM options, and 128GB and 256GB UFS 3.0 internal storage options with microSD expansion up to 256GB.

Another highlight feature on the Reno Ace is its SuperVOOC 2.0 fast-charging technology, which Oppo claims can take a battery from 0 to 100 percent charge in 30 minutes. The device supports 65W charging for its 4,000mAh battery. Some preliminary tests already back up the claim, with Forbes contributor, Ben Sin detailing a 48 percent battery increase in about 10 minutes of charging.

Pricing for the new gaming-focused smartphone will start at CNY 2,999 or about $422 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage model, while the 8GB RAM 256GB internal storage model will sell for CNY 3,199 or about $450, and the 12GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage model for CNY 3,799 or about $534.

Other specs for the Oppo Reno Ace will include its 6.5-inch AMOLED, 90Hz display with a tear-drop notch and an in-display fingerprint scanner, a quad-camera set up including a 48-megapixel standard lens, a 13-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x hybrid zoom, 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and 2-megapixel monochrome sensor, as well as a 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

The smartphone also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack and supports NFC and dual-frequency GPS. For software, it runs Android 10 with the Oppo ColorOS 6.1 overlay. Color options include Psychedelic Purple and Starry Blue.

There will also be a 40th anniversary Gundam Edition of the Oppo Reno Ace, which will feature a unique design and will include themed accessories.
