“YouTube Music plays catch up, introduces gapless playback”

YouTube Music is now confirmed to be rolling out gapless playback, primarily for premium members using the app on Android or the web version. The setting is expected to soon come to iOS and other member tiers.

Gapless playback will allow tracks to seamlessly transition from one song to another, which will be especially beneficial for continuous albums that are stylized to have songs that quickly pick up where the other ends. Previously, there would be a short pause in the music as songs changed.

While this feature is new to YouTube Music, it is commonplace on many other music streaming apps, such as Spotify. However, users have lamented for some time that YouTube Music is behind the times on many features that make for an easier and higher-quality listening experience.

Users can subscribe to YouTube Music Premium for $9.99 per month or can get the music app bundled with YouTube Premium for $11.99 per month.
