The second-generation smartphone from Xiaomi’s India focused cost-effective brand will be available starting February 11. The Poco X2 is now official, featuring a number of high-end specs, including a 120Hz display, a high capacity battery, and a quad-camera set up with a price tag of just $225.
The device is also available in China under the brand name Redmi K30. Despite its many impressive features on both models, it is a far cry from the original Pocophone F1, which released in 2018. The smartphone ran the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which was the premium chip of its time. However, Poco X2/Redmi K30 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chip to ensure it remains cost-effective.
Xiaomi has noted that recent technological advancements, including the major push for 5G development and rollout on to hardware, means that components are not depreciating in value as quickly as they did two years ago. When with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 set for 2020 flagships, chips including the Snapdragon 855 and 855 Plus can still make for a rather expensive device retaining its other high-end features.
The Poco X2 features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and HDR 10, in addition to its high refresh rate. The device is available in 6GB and 8GB RAM options and 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB internal storage options and features a 4,500 mAh battery with a USB-C port that charges at a rate of 27W.
Its quad-camera includes a 64-megapixel main lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Its front-facing camera is a dual-lens system with a 20-megapixel main lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, VoWiFi, Hi-Res Sound, and IR Blaster, as well as a P2i water-repellent coating and a liquid cool technology that regulates heat at a rate of 300%, according to Xiaomi.
The Poco X2 will go on sale on February 11 on Flipkart, in Atlantis Blue, Matrix Purple, and Phoenix Red color options. The 6GB RAM / 64GB internal storage model will sell for ₹15,999, the 6GB RAM / 128GB internal storage for ₹16,999, and the 8GB RAM /256GB internal storage model for ₹19,999.
