Many devices with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip will be coming out of the woodwork in the new year, including the iQOO 7, which the Chinese brand has confirmed will be announced on January 11 in an online event that will begin at 7:30 p.m. locally.
There have already been a few murmurs about the iQOO 7, including that it may feature a 120Hz FullHD+ display, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,000 mAh battery with 120W charging.
A recent AnTuTu benchmark indicates that the device may perform better than Qualcomm’s reference device for the Snapdragon 888 chip, which features 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The performance test places the iQOO 7 hardware at 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage.
In addition, to render leaks, the brand has also teased that there will be a model of the iQOO 7 with a design inspired by its collaboration with BMW. Images of the device show a white color option with a racing stripe-eque design on the side.
The images also show a triple-lens set up for the rear camera, though so far details specs for the camera have not surfaced. The front camera has a punch-hole design and the handset is expected to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The iQOO 7 launch announcement quickly follows the unveiling of the Xiaomi Mi 11, which was the first smartphone announced with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chip. As Qualcomm has confirmed many popular brands will use the chip in 2021, there are sure to be many more devices following, but those among the first are sure to get special attention.
The iQOO 7 is set to primarily have availability in China. Word of international availability is not known at this point.
