“Verizon Adaptive Sound Launches on New Motorola 5G Smartphone”

Verizon is officially introducing its own spatial audio technology called Verizon Adaptive Sound on a new smartphone, the Motorola One 5G UW Ace, which will be available July 8, selling for $299.99 or for $12.49 a month for 24 months with a device payment plan. Verizon is also offering the device for free to those signing up for a premium unlimited plan.

Verizon is marketing the Motorola One 5G UW Ace as its most affordable 5G smartphone, but it is also the first smartphone to sell with Adaptive Sound integrated into its system. The carrier said it has been developing the technology since 2019, having first texted it on the second generation Alexa router. Since then, Verizon has been testing the technology in its “broader roadmap and with select partners,” Verizon said.

Notably, tech blog, DroidLife discovered an Adaptive Sound software update on the Motorola Edge+ just days before its official launch.

Verizon described its Adaptive Sound as an “innovative software and cloud-based solution to provide customers with an upgraded, premium sound experience across all of their content and listening devices.”

The carrier noted that users will have complete control over their listening experience from app to app or they can set Adaptive Sound to optimize the listening experience of their device as a whole. The feature also has manual control settings, which can tweak aspects, such as treble, bass, spatial, and voice. Finally, users have the option to turn Verizon Adaptive Sound on and off.

While the Motorola One 5G UW Ace is the first Verizon smartphone to release with Adaptive Sound as an onboard feature, the carrier says it plans to bring it to other devices in the future, through releases and software updates.

The main specs for the device include a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G chip, a 5,000 mAh battery, and a 48-megapixel quad-camera set up. The Motorola One 5G UW Ace will also be compatible will all of Verizon’s 5G flavors, including enhancements to the carrier’s 5G Ultra Wideband leveraging C-Band spectrum.
