The Samsung Jet Bot AI+ robot vacuum is now available for purchase after its initial debut during CES 2021 in January. The Jet Bot and Clean Station sells for $1,299 at Samsung.com as well as other retailers, such as Home Depot.
The robot vacuum uses an Intel-created active stereo-type 3D sensor, which allows the Jet Bot AI+ to “think and make decisions on its own,” Samsung said in a statement.
The appliance is able to map out its surroundings and determine where in a home needs to be cleaned and to what degree. It can also navigate around bodies or objects, still or moving, and divert its trajectory to continue cleaning. The brand said the technology is the same that is used in self-driving cars to determine their surroundings.
Users can program the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ to begin working on its own when they are not around, at work, or away running errands, for example, for maximum efficiency.
For actual cleaning, the Jet Bot AI+ uses a Digital Inverter Motor to power its Jet Cyclone to lift dirt. The robot vacuum uses its sensor technology to “identify the type of surface and the level of dust it encounters then automatically adjust its suction power to clean thoroughly,” Samsung said.
When the robot vacuum is finished cleaning it automatically returns to its Clean Station, which is able to capture 99.99% of the dust collected during the cleaning process.
The Samsung Jet Bot AI+ robot vacuum requires a Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account for use, though it is compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Users can add functionality with Samsung’s SmartThings app, such as setting “no-go zones” or remotely scheduling a cleaning. Users can also connect to the Wi-Fi camera on the Jet Bot AI+ to check in on their homes and their pets.
