“OnePlus Foldable Phone Confirmed for Launch Later this Year”

OnePlus has confirmed plans to release its first foldable smartphone during the second half of 2023.

The Chinese brand shared tentative details about the upcoming device at its “From Fast & Smooth to Beyond” panel discussion, which took place during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Tuesday.

OnePlus didn’t say much about the prospective hardware for the foldable but did indicate that it will be a flagship-tier product in terms of specifications.

“We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market,” OnePlus President and COO Kinder Liu at the event.

With a second half of 2023 launch confirmed, the OnePlus foldable is set to compete with the like of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Xiaomi Mi Fold 3. Currently, there is no word on whether the foldable will release alongside a OnePlus T-model device or in place of a mid-year update.

The announcement follows the recent launch of the OnePlus 11 5G, which includes several highlight features, including a four-year extended software support policy and five years of security updates to ensure that the device is future-proofed. OnePlus has also enlisted the help of its dedicated fan community in the ongoing critique and development of devices.

In addition to the upcoming foldable, OnePlus said it has a plan of expanding its smart ecosystem within the next three to five years to include more devices, such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, TVs, and other Internet-of-things devices.
