Samsung has announced several new desktop monitors days before CES 2025 is scheduled to begin.
The peripherals are from the Smart, Odyssey and ViewFinity series’ and highlight Samsung’s continued foray into the AI market. With its new lineup, Samsung is tackling several industry trends for monitors that are being observed for 2025. Many include OLED displays with a 500 Hz refresh rate, 27-inch displays, high-resolution displays, and displays with high peak brightness.
Each model features unique aspects and will be on display at Samsung’s First Look during CES on January 5.
The Samsung Odyssey Series introduces to the gaming monitor industry the first 27-inch OLED gaming monitors with a unique blend of high-resolution displays and high refresh rates. The highly anticipated development has brought forth two models, the Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF model), a 27-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor with a 240Hz, and the Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF model), a 27-inch QHD monitor with a 500 Hz refresh rate, both the first of their kind.
The Samsung Smart Monitor M9 brings to the industry for the first time new AI features directed toward entertainment and interactive functions. These include an AI Picture Optimizer, which can determine what kind of content is on the screen and adjust the aspects for optimal viewing. Similarly the feature can register video game genres and create an image setting for various games. The 4K AI Upscaling Pro feature allows the Smart Monitor M9 to enhance content with a lower-resolution to 4K using various AI methods. Samsung noted the feature works with any starting resolution. The Samsung M90SF model is a 32-inch 4K OLED display that supports VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400. It has a thin design and a built-in 4K camera.
The models have similar features, including a 0.03ms (GTG) response time, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync support, as well as VESA DisplayHDR True Black, and glare protection for the OLED screens.
The Samsung ViewFinity S8 introduces a larger display to the brand’s signature 16:9 4K monitor specifications for this series. According to Samsung, the 37-inch screen is 34% larger than the prior ViewFinity monitor.
The Samsung S80UD model features a sRGB 99% color gamut, a TÜV Rheinland certification for eye care, in addition to an Eye saver mode and a flicker-free feature for further eye protection. The monitor includes a built-in KVM switch, which also allows for peripheral devices to charge while connected via a 90W USB-C cable.
