“Google Pixel 4a price leak follows pre-launch hands-on”

The Pixel 4a really isn’t leaving much to the imagination as new details about the unreleased device have surfaced just one day after a major live-leak. Previous reports showcased a hands-on video and spec dump of the smartphone. Now, the tech informant, @evleaks has shared press renders that suggest the Pixel 4a will have a starting price of $399.

The renders artistically superimpose a Pixel 4a ad and its price details onto a billboard. The leaked images favor Google’s well-known branding style, which lends credence to their validity — that they could be press renders directly from the brand. If accurate, they reveal that the Pixel 4a won’t see a price bump from the Pixel 3a, which released in 2018.

Many note that the images detailing the Pixel 4a will start at $399 could be a hint at additional storage options for the device or that there will also be a Pixel 4a XL. Google has announced all versions of its Pixel line with standard and XL models so far so it is likely the 2020 series will follow suit with a Pixel 4a XL. If the standard model doesn’t see a price change, the Pixel 4a XL could then potentially start at $479, much like the Pixel 3a XL.

The images showcase a white model of the Pixel 4a, in addition to a black model. We already saw from the prior live leak, the Pixel 4a in a black color option. The leak also revealed specs for the Pixel 4a, including a 5.81-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, a 12-megapixel rear camera, and 8-megapixel front camera, as well as a 3,080 mAh battery and USB-C.

All of these features are fairly incremental spec bumps from the previous generation. Since leaks have not pinpointed any highlight features for the Pixel 4a, maintaining budget-friendly marketing for the mid-range line could be Google’s best move.

The Pixel 4a launch has not been confirmed, but Google will likely showcase its new devices at its live-streamed I/O keynote in May. There is no word as to whether the current pandemic issues will affect the market release of the smartphone.
