Huawei’s latest flagship devices are official as of Tuesday and include the P30 and P30 Pro smartphones, which were announced at a launch event in Paris.
The devices are already on sale with the Huawei P30 selling at a starting price of €799 for its 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage configuration. The Huawei P30 Pro is available starting at €999 for its 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage configuration, while its 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage model is €1,099, and its 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage is €1,249.
With the U.S. ban still in place, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are still not available stateside. However, potential customers can purchase from an international seller if they are willing. Keep in mind that there will be LTE limitations on the devices as they do not have the proper U.S. carrier bands. The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are available through Amazon and several European and Canadian carriers.
Huawei P30 Pro top camera once again
The P30 devices continue to highlight a tradition of camera improvements, with the Huawei P30 Pro featuring an intricate quad-lens set up with a 40-megapixel wide angle lens with f/1.6 aperture and OIS, a 20-megapixel ultra wide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/3.4 aperture and OIS, and a Time-of-Flight (TOF) camera. The Huawei P30 Pro currently rates at the top of the popular camera benchmark, DxOMark, with a 112 point rating.
The standard P30 includes a triple-lens set up with a 40-megapixel wide angle lens with f/1.8 aperture, a 20-megapixel ultra wide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 and OIS.
Huawei adopted a new “SuperSpectrum Sensor” technology in its wide angle lenses, using RYB filters instead of RGB to create brighter images with better detail, color and clarity for low-light imaging.
Additionally, the P30 Pro includes the latest zoom features, which allows for 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom, and 50x digital zoom. The device’s ToF sensor captures depth features that allow for various creative imaging.
Both models feature a 32-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Huawei P30 specs and features differences
The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro pack a significant amount of power with the Kirin 980 chip but have slight differences hardware wise. The Huawei P30 features a 6.1-inch FHD+ display, four configurations, including 6GB RAM/128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM/64GB internal storage, 8GB RAM/128GB internal storage, and 8GB RAM/256GB internal storage, IP53 water, and dust resistance, and a 3,650mAh super charge battery. The P30 also retains its 3.5mm audio jack.
The Huawei P30 Pro features a 6.47-inch FHD+ curved display, four configurations, including 6GB RAM/128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM/128GB internal storage, 8GB RAM/256GB internal storage, and 8GB RAM/512GB internal storage, IP68 water and dust resistance, and a 4,200mAh wireless quick charge battery.
Both models feature in-screen fingerprint sensors, USB-C ports, Android 9 Pie with Huawei’s EMUI 9.1 overlay, and are available in Breathing Crystal, Amber Sunrise, Aurora, Pearl White, and Black color options.
