“Verizon takes on Alcatel Avalon V smartphone, starting a hardware partnership with TCL”

The Alcatel Avalon V is an affordable smartphone that is now available at Verizon. The device’s launch solidifies a partnership between Verizon and Alcatel’s parent company, TCL, meaning customers can soon expect other branded smartphones to be available through the carrier. The Avalon V is a decent start for consumers to get familiar with the brand, which is typically associated with budget carriers, such as Cricket and Metro by T-Mobile.

For for $99.99, consumers can get a handy device that hits all of the basic mobile needs and runs on Verizon’s ultra-fast 4G LTE network. The device also supports other impressive connectivity standards for its price  including VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, as well as Wi-Fi and GPS.

The Alcatel Avalon V features a 5.34-inch FWVGA+ display with 480X960 resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chip, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 32GB, and a 2,460mAh battery with a Micro USB power port. The device runs the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and is expected to get at least one update, meaning it should run Android 9 Pie at some point.

Its camera set up includes a 5-megapixel main lens and a 2-megapixel front lens, both supporting 720p and 1080p video at 30fps.

The device’s design is simple with a plastic frame Suede Gray color and texture. The Alcatel Avalon V is light and easy to handle, and could be a great option for those who don’t require a fancy device, but want high-powered network support.
