“Who makes BlackBerry phones? New 5G Android model to launch in 2021”

BlackBerry devices will be back on the market once again in 2021, with its new license partner, OnwardMobility, planning to release a 5G Android smartphone with an updated physical keyboard as its latest inaugural device.

The BlackBerry has had many resurgences throughout the years in an effort to recapture a bit of its pre-iPhone glory. It most recently ended a brand deal with the Chinese manufacturer, TCL, with licenses set to expire on August 31. Its latest partner has indicated a focus on business users. The Texas-based startup plans to have Foxconn Technology Group subsidiary, FIH Mobile produce its new BlackBerry smartphones.

So far the brand has revealed that the device will launch during the first half of 2021 in North America and Europe at a competitive price. The new smartphone will feature a high-end camera, support Android apps and BlackBerry security software, as well as sub-6GHz and millimeter-wave 5G.

OnwardMobility CEO, Peter Franklin recently told PCMag’s Sascha Segan that the new BlackBerry will be a “global flagship.” This has led some to ponder whether it could feature premium specs, such as the currently rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 SoC. Still, others wonder if a competitive price means it might rival the likes of the
Pixel 4a and OnePlus Nord.

Currently, Franklin is working to ensure that the new BlackBerry device has carrier support when it releases.
