“YouTube Music updates improve TV features”

YouTube Music is getting new features for smart TVs and the new Chromecast dongle with Google TV. The updates include deeper integration with the YouTube app for TVs.

Users will be able to access saved playlists and liked songs from a YouTube Music tab within the YouTube app. There will also be easier viewing of album and playlist artwork within the app for better aesthetics and ease at identifying music.

There are a host of new features, particularly for TVs running Android TV OS, which include the new Chromecast.

Users will be able to upload music onto YouTube Music via a computer and access the new uploads on a TV.

The YouTube Music TV interface now includes a progress bar for playing music as well as a song title and artist name.

A YouTube Music row will be included on the Android TV home screen.

There will also be continuing updates for YouTube Music Premium, which will allow users to continue playing music after closing the TV app. As YouTube Music replaces Google Play Music, devices running Android TV OS will automatically update.
