“Google Announces First Retail Store Opening for Summer After Many Pixel 6 Rumors”

Google has announced plans to open a retail location in Chelsea, New York this summer. The Google Store will be located on the ground floor of its New York campus at 15th St. and 9th Ave.

The store will be Google’s first physical retail location where customers can come to browse and purchase products from the company’s many brands, including Pixel, Nest, Fitbit, and Pixelbook.

Notably, the Google Store location is not far from a major Apple Store location on West 14th St. However, the building is one owned by Google for approximately 20-years, with over 11,000 employees working at its offices, the tech giant said.

Customers will also be able to talk to “experts” and get assistance with various device issues, including cracked smartphone screens and installation troubleshooting. The Google Store plans to offer how-to workshops throughout the year to assist customers on ideal users practices for their products.

Many have noted a connection between Google announcing the opening of its first permanent store as rumors of its upcoming products begin to ramp up. In particular, reports have focused on a Pixel 6 smartphone series with mostly in-house made specs and features. Rumors also suggest Google has a Pixel Watch in its pipeline, and a Pixel 5a smartphone, which could launch in the summer, around the time of the store opening.

Google Hardware Store pop-up

Google has often hosted pop-up shops in major locations, such as New York City, to coincide with the launch of its smartphones. It also showcases its others products at these events. However, a permanent physical location would be ideal for the company to showcase its products both during and away from launch periods.

Google also ensured that the opening of its store will adhere proper pandemic procedures, including masking, hand sanitation, frequent cleaning practices, and social distancing rules. The store will also continue to limit the number of guests, and will offer easy pickup options for online orders.
