“Apple 2021 iPhone 13 Lineup Tackles Camera, Graphics, Battery, and Storage”

Apple showcased its fall updates of products and services on Tuesday. Taking center stage, of course, was its iPhone lineup, which includes the standard iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Apple detailed a number of new features on the devices, including the A15 Bionic chip with a beefed-up GPU, updated cameras, new color options, extended battery life, and new storage options.

iPhone 2021 Lineup

The models will be available for preorder starting Friday and will go on sale September 24, joining the iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and iPhone SE as part of Apple’s full lineup.

Here’s what you need to know about the iPhone 13 series.

iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini both feature a ceramic shield front cover and IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

They come in pink, blue, starlight, midnight, Product Red color options, with the iPhone 13 available in a 6.1-inch display size and the iPhone 13 mini coming in a 5.4 display size. Both models feature Apple’s Super Retina XDR display.

They both feature a dual-rear camera comprised of a 12-megapixel wide camera, which allows in 40 percent more light than the previous model and 12-megapixel ultrawide. The iPhone 13 also introduces cinematic mode, a Dolby vision hdr powered feature that allows the camera to hold focus on the subject even when they’re moving. Additionally, They include a 12-megapixel True Depth front camera.

The A15 Bionic chip houses the performance, power efficiency, and graphics of the iPhone 13 and Apple claims it outperforms any SoC on the market, especially in terms of graphics. The brand said its GPU is 30 percent faster than competitor chips with more detailed visuals.

The iOS 15 software for the devices includes features, such as Live Text in Camera, SharePlay, AR updates to Apple Maps and Weather, and privacy control updates for Siri and Mail.

Apple also continues to enable 5G on the iPhone 13, promising connectivity to 200 carriers in 60 countries by the end of the year.

The iPhone 13 mini provides 1.5 hours longer battery life than the iPhone 12, while the iPhone 13 provides 2.5 hours longer battery life than the prior model.

Apple is also introducing a 128GB storage option for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, in addition to 256GB and 512GB options.

The iPhone 13 mini will start at $699, and the iPhone 13 at $799.

iPhone 13 Pro

The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max both feature Super Retina XDR OLED displays with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This allows the refresh rate on the handsets to adjust as users scroll for ideal lighting and processing.

The Pro models come in graphite, gold, silver, sierra blue color options with the iPhone 13 Pro available in a 6.1‑inch display size and the iPhone 13 Pro in a 6.7‑inch display size.

They both feature a triple rear camera comprised of a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. All the cameras support night mode. Apple has also introduced macro photography for the wide-angle lens and ProRes video for end-to-end workflow on professional editing applications. The Pro models also include a 12-megapixel True Depth front camera.

iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max similarly feature the A15 Bionic chip, with a 5 core GPU, a boost from the 4 core graphics component on the standard iPhone 13. In addition to IP68 water and dust resistance, the devices also bring MagSafe wireless charging over from the older models.

Apple is also introducing a 1TB storage option for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max in addition to 128GB. 256GB and 512GB options.

The iPhone 13 Pro will start at $999, and the iPhone Pro Max at $1099.
