“Apple Teases ‘Absolutely Incredible’ WWDC 2024; AI Advancements on the Horizon?”

Apple’s next Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2024) will take place from June 10 to June 14 at Apple Park in Cupertino, Calif., the company confirmed on Tuesday.

The 35th annual event will be spearheaded with a keynote on Monday, June 10, where Apple will host developers and students, and share details about its latest software advancements. The brand is expected to officially announce the iPhone’s latest iOS 18 software update, in particular, but will likely also showcase new features for iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2 as well.

Apple’s marketing senior vice president, Greg Joswiak, shared a hint on X (formerly Twitter) that the event might include details about the brand’s AI advancements, stating that WWDC 2024 would be “Absolutely Incredible.” Fans and pundits quickly figured out the acronym after the post went up.

Apple CEO Tim Cook previously confirmed to shareholders that the company would have a focus on generative AI in 2024. There is currently word that Apple has been vetting Google for its Gemini or possibly OpenAI for its GPT large language models to use in addition to its own in-house, on-device model. Such AI features could be introduced on iOS 18 and released on the software and future hardware later in the year.

While the exact details of WWDC 2024 won’t be known until the event, those in attendance will be able to participate in the keynote, the State of the Union, the Apple Design Awards, sessions for developers, and other activities. There will also be a keynote livestream, as well as video sessions and other unique opportunities for remote attendees.

WWDC is free to attend for both in person and online participants; however, those wishing to attend in person must apply through the Apple Developer site or app. Sign up ends at 11:59 p.m. PT on Wednesday, April 3.
