In the wake of 5G mobile connectivity, device makers will surely be showcasing the most impressive features for their 2019 devices. If recently released details are true, Sony may take the cake for having one of the most powerful devices on the market with the Xperia XZ4.
The Sony Xperia XZ4 likely won’t be announced until February during Mobile World Congress, but the device has made a preliminary debut on the AnTuTu benchmark database, which rates processing performance for current and upcoming devices. According to the test, Xperia XZ4 garnered a score of 395,721, which eclipses the current most powerful Android devices by almost 100,000 points. The HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro has a score of 305,437.

Many tech blogs have noted that this preliminary score is nearing 400,000, which isn’t a maximum for AnTuTu, but especially now, would be a significant record among Android devices. The closest comparison would be the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2018, which rate in at 554,815. However, it isn’t surprising that a professional grade table is more powerful than even a flagship level smartphone. Apple’s latest flagship smartphones also significantly drop in power in comparison to its tablets. For further comparison, the only Sony device on AnTuTu’s benchmark list is the Sony Xperia XZ2, which comes in 275,832. Among yet-to-be-released devices, Samsung’s Galaxy S10 appeared on AnTuTu in November 2018 with a score of 362,292.
AnTuTu may also reveal hardware details for devices while they are still in the rumor phase. The benchmark suggests for the Sony Xperia XZ4, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, 6GB of RAM, a 3,900mAh battery, and a 6.5-inch display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The benchmark also reveals the device’s model number as I8134.

There are some murmurs that Sony may enable 5G connectivity in the Xperia XZ4, which could account for the jump in processing power. So far, no details about the device have been confirmed by the manufacturer. Still, leaked renders suggest a tall device with a sleek body and no notches or front camera holes to help expand the display.
