Google has now showcased its first foldable device, the Pixel Fold, just days before its unveiling at the Google I/O developer’s conference on May 10.
The brand shared on its social media platforms on Thursday, a short clip of its official renders of the Pixel Fold, showing different angles of the device, open and closed, front and back.
While rumors suggested this teaser would drop last Wednesday with a full preorder available for the device ahead of any launch event, Google has instead shared a signup page so that those interested can register to learn more information about the Pixel Fold. There are a considerable number of speculated features circulating about the foldable, but none have been confirmed by Google. Even the teaser mentions that the device has not been authorized by the Federal Communications Commission.
Nevertheless, the Pixel Fold is rumored to feature a 5.8-inch FHD+ external display and 7.6-inch internal display, a Google Tensor 2 chip, and Titan M2 security chip, 12GB of RAM, 256GB and 512GB storage options, a battery exceeding 24 hours, and a triple camera setup. Color options will also include chalk and obsidian, which might be dependent on the storage options. Rumors suggest that the 256GB model might sell for $1,799 and be available in chalk and obsidian color options, while the 512GB model might sell for $1,919 and be available in only an obsidian color option.
Google is expected to make the foldable available for preorder on May 30 and launch the device for to market on June 27.
Google will likely also announce the Pixel 7a smartphone and Pixel Tablet at its keynote address during the Google I/O. Many leaks have also been circulating about both devices, and the brand previously tested the Pixel Tablet at the 2023 I/O keynote, stating it would launch sometime in 2023.
