“OnePlus 9 early release date teased as the industry guesses specs for codename ‘lemonade’”

The OnePlus 8T may now be one sale for only a few days but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from drumming up some details on the brand’s next major release.

Murmurs indicate that OnePlus’ 2021 flagship, likely the OnePlus 9 is codenamed ‘Lemonade’ internally and may release as early as March of the coming year.

The early launch may be an indirect result of the current pandemic, for reasons unknown. While many would consider brands might have trouble developing and releasing devices during this time, the year has actually been robust with mobile options on all tiers. There is no doubt that 2021 may see a similar plethora of devices released. Current rumors suggest that Samsung may launch its own Galaxy S21 in January as opposed to its typical late February into March timeframe.

Currently, the industry is grasping at straws as to what features the OnePlus 9 may include, but some have suggested that we can expect Android 11 with the latest Oxygen OS overlay to be a given, as well as the still rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chip with 5nm processing.

There will likely be a standard OnePlus 9 model and a OnePlus 9 Pro, much like we saw this year with the OnePlus 8 series. Rumors do suggest that that one or both of the models may include IP68 water and dust resistance certification and wireless charging after the brand introduced those features on the OnePlus 8 Pro. A size difference between the two models is also possible.

Other potential features, based on current models include 120Hz displays with hole punches, thin bezels, and carrier support from T-Mobile but possibly not Verizon.

No details about the OnePlus 9 can be confirmed at this point, but fans and informants will surely have fun musing about the device this rumor season until it is unveiled.
