OnePlus has confirmed at least two upcoming smartphones, including the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and the OnePlus Nord N200 5G, with one of the models set to launch as early as June, TechRadar reports.
OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau confirmed to the publication that the OnePlus Nord CE 5G will be announced on June 10, with availability in Europe and India. The executive did not reveal much else about the device in terms of specs or price, but did note that the CE in its name stands for “Core Edition.”
It remains to be seen if this is a OnePlus spin on device models such as Samsung’s Fan Edition, which pairs fan favorite features with low prices to garner consumer interest. With a short wait time between this news and the launch some rumors and leaks are sure to surface.
“We have distilled the original Nord down to its core elements, and added a few extra features to create a great everyday phone at an even more affordable price,” Lau told TechRadar.
The CEO also spoke about the OnePlus Nord N200 5G, which will be available in the U.S. and Canada at a later date, but its exact launch was not divulged. This launch cycle is reminiscent of the OnePlus Nord N100, which released in North America in January 2021, after the original OnePlus Nord launched in July 2020 with availability for Europe and India.
Many note that the Nord N200 5G would be a solid upgrade considering the OnePlus Nord N100 was not a 5G-powered device. Lau told TechRadar, “users can expect this to be one of the most affordable 5G smartphones available within the North American market.”
Meanwhile, Many also note the lack of a ‘OnePlus Nord N20’ on the brand’s device roster. The Chinese manufacturer released a OnePlus Nord N10 alongside the Nord N100 in January. However, a recent leak, discovered by Android Police could account for yet another new device in the line up. The publication found the name ‘OnePlus Nord 2’ listed among compatible devices in a Stadia Premiere Edition promo for the UK, Germany, and France, with the promo running through September 30.
OnePlus Nord 2, is a device that is currently also not official, would potentially be a follow up to the original Plus Nord. Rumors suggest it may have a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor and a display with a high refresh rate.
There is a chance if the Nord N200 5G is getting 5G capabilities then OnePlus may simply scrap the Nord N10 as a series. While name details about the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and the OnePlus Nord N200 5G have been confirmed, the OnePlus Nord 2 still remains a rumor.
